California State University, Northridge is a vibrant, diverse university community of nearly 36,000 students and more than 4,000 faculty and staff, sited on a 356-acre campus in the heart of Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. This summer it plays host to the Contact Football Camps.

Directing the camp is longtime Contact Football Camp instructor, Bill O'Boyle. Coach O'Boyle began his coaching career in 1988 at Dana College, and has since coached at St. Cloud State, Hastings University and prior to Whittier, the University of Redlands. Since 1993, O'Boyle has worked numerous summer football camps and NFL training camps. He was named the AFCA national assistant coach of the year in the NAIA in 2000.

Assisting coach O'Boyle is Walt Fletcher. For the last two years he has been the recruiting coordinator as he brings 10 years of coaching experience to the table.

Fletcher joined the Poet staff in 2006 after serving two years for Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Occidental College in 2004 and 2005. While at Occidental he was the defensive line coach in '04 and moved to inside linebackers in '05. He helped the Tigers to back-to-back NCAA Division III Playoff appearances and mentored four different players to All-SCIAC honors.

Special team play and scrimmaging is also a big part of our programs. All phases of down-field coverages, wedge busting, tackling, blocking for punts, field goals, extra points, holding, kick-off, and kick receiving is covered. And after working hard all week, both individually and as a team, the final day 'live' scrimmage is the highlight of camp. Campers are divided into teams by age, weight, size and ability. Using light and dark jerseys, teams scrimmage as parents, friends and the entire camp staff cheers them on. Every camper plays at least one-half of our scrimmage.
